Steven Thomas is an artist from Pasqua First Nations. He won a national art award recently making us proud to say “he is one of ours”! He designed our new Four Pillars Community Development logo which was unveiled at the September 26, 2025 official opening of our Regina office. The design meets the four requirements:
In Stephen’s words….
Culture: The Beadwork design. The beadwork design I made in the original is a template so people could actually bead it if they wanted to.
Language: The design on the beadwork is “Pasqua” in Saulteaux syllabics.
Heritage: The eagle feathers on the beaded design and the larger eagle itself. I used them to connect this logo to the Pasqua logo, both incorporate an eagle, if both logos were placed side by side they would face each other. So the eagle connects us to where we come from. Visually and spiritually.
Wellness: The blue colour on the beadwork design, represents water an integral part of achieving wellness. also the black wings, and body of the larger eagle are in the shape of Asham’s point, again showing the importance of water as well as recognizing the gathering place where we have our ceremonies and pick our medicine.
